5/22/2022 0 Comments Week 12It's the final week of Genius Hour and I have just finished my final book of the project which is The Hate U Give. This project really made me appreciate books and just reading in general. It made my love for reading grow stronger and I could genuinely say that the whole process had a really good impact on me and my reading. Now with the book, this book had a really powerful message and really brought attention to racism. I plan on watching the movie so that I can have more of a visual understanding of everything and see the characters play everything out. Book Review - The Hate U GiveThe Hate U Give is about a sixteen-year-old girl, Starr Carter, who is experiencing both worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the upperclass suburban prep school she attends. When Starr witnesses the shooting of her childhood best friend, Khalil, who was unarmed, she wants justice for him. But whatever Starr decides to do or what she doesn't decide to do could upset her community or put her life in danger. This book really brings awareness to the topic of racism which I think is really important. I really liked this book and think that everyone should read it to attempt to understand the struggles and even the Black Lives Matter movement. I would definitely recommend this book and would give it a 10/10.
