4/3/2022 0 Comments Week 6It is the end of week 6 and I have just I finished reading The Song of Achilles. I think it was a really interesting book that I probably would not have picked out myself but I really enjoyed reading it and am glad that someone else recommended it to me. I am glad that I am already halfway through the project and and only have three more books left to read. So far I have enjoyed this project and it has definitely made my love for reading stronger. I plan on reading throughout the summer and I do not think this would have happened without this project so therefore, I am really thankful for this project and I think others could say the same. Book Review - The Song of AchillesThe Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller is a retelling of one of the world's oldest stories and almost everyone knows the ending. However, Miller has written a beautiful love story about war and glory. Her choice to put the book from the point of view of a minor character in the Iliad gives the story a whole different meaning. At first, I had a hard time getting into the book but after reading the whole thing I can definitely understand why they were necessary and meaningful to the plot of the story. I have heard that when reading the book for the second time you really pick up on smaller details. Seeing Achilles and Patroclus' relationship grow throughout the story is really heartwarming and makes the ending shattering at first until both characters are given the ending that they deserve. It comes as no surprise to me that Miller took 10 years to write The Song of Achilles. I genuinely loved this book and would 100% recommend it to others!
